Citrus County is applying to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) for a grant under the FFY 2014 Housing Rehabilitation category in the amount of $750,000 or more, under the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. The CDBG funds must benefit low-to-moderate income (LMI) persons (by providing housing rehabilitation to low to moderate income homeowners). The proposed project is tentatively called "CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Project for Citrus County". The project will be located within the unincorporated area of Citrus County, Florida.
Housing Services is dedicated to increasing the quantity and quality of decent, safe, and affordable housing for Citrus County's moderate, low, and very low income families.
This division administers state and federally funded housing programs for home repairs and improvements, provides subsidies to first time home buyers for downpayments and closing costs, provides rental assistance, coordinates grant awards to affordable housing developers for new construction of homes for very low income and special needs families, as well as for affordable rental developments, and provides grant subsidies for utility connections and emergency energy assistance.
