Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why Do I Have to Send In An Application
on This New System When I Didn't Before?
A.
The State of Florida made statutory changes which required adding some
additional information to the application form itself, along with the
requirement that it must be on file with the County. If you fill out
the application online, we will either fax it to you, or send you a
pdf document you can print. Sign that application and notarize it, and
fax that back to us.
Q. What is The New Fax Number?
A.
(352) 527-5394 You must use this to submit any documents via the online
permitting system except Notice of Commencements (see below). The old
fax number is not connected to this new system. The old number is still
active, but it should be used for documents not related to your permits.
Q. Why Can't I Do A Single Family Home
or Commercial Permit With This System?
A.
Click here to find out why.
Q. Every time I Try to Do Something On
This System it Makes Me Login Again! What's wrong?
A. Our system requires
that "cookies" be enabled. Check the help system in your browser
for instructions on enabling cookies.
Q. This System Doesn't Work on My Browser.
What's Wrong?
A. You must be using
Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later, or Netscape Version
7.0 or later. There are no exceptions to this. Load your browser, click
Help (at the top), then "About". The version will be displayed.
Compare the version number to those shown above and make sure they are
as high as the versions required for your browser.
Q. Where Do I Set Up My Escrow Accounts?
A. The training website goes into extensive detail
on this. If you look at the buttons on the left, you will see instructions
for both the Permit and Notice of Commencement escrow accounts down
near the bottom.
Q. Do I Fax My Notice of Commencements
to This Fax Number?
A.
No, they have to be recorded by the Clerk of the Courts first. They
will send it on to us. Their fax number is (352) 527-5274. Remember
to write the Application Number in the top left corner before you fax
it in.
Q. Can I Fax In One Form and Use It On
More Than One Permit?
A. No.
Each form we receive must be specifically for one permit only. Remember
to write the Application Number in the top left corner before you fax
it in.
Q. Can I Email You An AutoCad File of
My Site Plan?
A.
As of this time, no. We will add this functionality before long, but
we are still studying related issues like virus and worm attacks which
could be disguised as a legitimate attached file.
Q. Will You Accept Documents From One
Permit For Another?
A.
No, they must be submitted again. The exception is Mastered Engineering
that has been saved as a "Saved Set". Those can be re-used,
but they must still be submitted under the correct permit number. Click here to find out about using "Saved Sets".
Q. I Faxed In A Group of Documents and
One is Missing. Why?
A.
Several possible reasons.
- When the faxes arrive,
a staff person has to review and assign them to the correct permit.
It is possible it just hasn't been reviewed yet. Usually faxes are
reviewed within an hour or so.
- Did you fax it to the
correct number? The new fax number is (352) 527-5394. The old number
does not tie into this permitting system.
- Sometimes forms stick
together in the fax machine and doesn't get scanned, so it looks like
it was sent, but actually wasn't. This is fairly common. If your fax
has a log, check the page count sent against the number of sheets
you have. If they don't match you have a problem.
- If the fax doesn't have
the permit number written on it, the Building Division doesn't know
which permit to assign it to.
- The fax was too grainy
or illegible to read. Be sure to set your fax machine on fine mode.
Usually just a button you push.
- It is possible the document
was accidentally assigned to the wrong permit number. If you know
you sent it, and it doesn't show up after a few hours, call or email
the Building Division.
Q. Can I Use Mastered Engineering From
Different Engineers on the Same Application?
A.
No, all Engineering has to come from one Engineering
book.
