Overview
Many of you have been using our Online Permitting system for several years now. It has been widely accepted by those able to use it. In 2003, we processed over 4,000 permits and 55,000 inspections online. Our original system handled only permits which did not require site plans and/or Engineered drawings. The new system can handle any kind of permit online with the exception of single/multi-family homes and commercial applications. If you are interested in why click here.
Many of you will be seeing new (but similar looking) screens while others will be seeing this system for the first time. All of you will be using a new website for Online Permitting (www.citruspermits.com) and all of you will have to sign and fax in Applications and Worker's Compensation Insurance forms with each application. For those of you who have been using the simple permits, this will be new but it is required by the Florida State Statute. Despite the fact that you have to sign and fax these two forms, many of you will find this a huge improvement over the old system, especially those of you who use Engineered Plans from firms like Bennett Engineering. This process has been greatly simplified.
In 2003, the Building Division processed about 3,000 more permits than they did in 2002 and with the same size staff. One of the reasons is online permitting. It allows them to process more information in less time than compared to manually processing a paper version. If you are a contractor who can take advantage of Online Permitting, you should do so without question. Those who have been testing it for us report paper work is dramatically lower than before and online permits are being processed faster than manual permits.
Even if you cannot use the system for applying for permits, I strongly urge you to take advantage of Online Inspection scheduling. This allows you to schedule an inspection up to 6:30 AM for same day inspections. It is the fastest, easiest and surest way to get an inspection scheduled, and to see the results of a completed inspection.
This is without question one of the best Online Sites in Florida (maybe the only this comprehensive). A lot of Counties are offering online permitting but none that I have seen can do what this site will do. This entire website was written by System Management staff, and I'm proud to say we have some excellent people working for us.
